New redesigned website coming this summer. I will be working in Japan for the month of July.
Spin Magazine Spread
I have the opening Sound Check spread in the June issue of Spin. It's my shot of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at this year's Coachella Festival. It was my 9th year shooting the event and I've decided to take next year off, so I can finally enjoy it! Though I do enjoy those Spin paychecks.....
P. Diddy Cover Shoot
I had a blast shooting April's Mixmag cover with superstar house DJ Felix Da Housecat and the man himself, P. Diddy. These guys have been long time friends and are really energetic when they get together.
Rob Dyrdek shoot for Rides...Again!
Back in 2007 I shot pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his pal Big Black for the cover of Rides. This time around it was just Rob with his collection of vehicles at his own private skatepark/office. Check out his show "Fantasy Factory" on MTV to see his crazy weekly antics.
Rides wasn't able to run my more favorite setups we did, so check out the video to see the action and my favorite stills.
ESPN Rise- Fall Covers
Here's a few covers I shot for the #1 high school sports mag in the US. It's really cool to work with so many top young athletes.
When Snoop crashes your shoot with the nation's top two quarterbacks, you let him! I think Snoop was more star-struck than the kids were.
King Magazine- Darlene Ortiz
I had the honor of re-creating my idol Glen E. Friedman's famous photoshoot with Ice T's ex, Darlene. She was on the cover of Ice's second album called "Power". King did a story on the 20 year anniversary of the album and we photographed her the same way as the front and back of the album.
It shows that even 20 years later, shotguns and heels will always be in fashion, or at least in LA.
Revolver cover shoot: Tenacious D VS. Slipknot
I had the pleasure of working with the greatest band on earth, The D! Jack Black ripped his pants open in the first 5 minutes of our shoot. Talk about wardrobe malfunction, definitely one of the funnest shoots I've had.
Rolling Stone Germany... Das Ist Gut!
I originally shot Elvis Costello in Vancouver for The Word (UK) magazine. Rolling Stone Germany ran some of my unpublished pics for his article. Elvis ended up liking my pics so much that he's using them for his publicity photos and they're even on his latest album, MOMOFUKU!
Nelly cover
I did another shoot with Nelly. Instead of playing chess like our last shoot, I shot him in studio on some giant speaker cabinets. All I can say is that the man loves his Nikes!
50 Cent shoot
Here's the layout from my cover shoot with 50 Cent for Rap-Up magazine. I spent almost two hours with him and we hit it off pretty well. Nice guy that Fifty!
Playboy
Here's my second shoot for the greatest mag ever. I shot Jimmy Kimmel backstage on the set of his late night show for a great feature story on Jimmy and his girlfriend Sarah Silverman.
Simon & Schuster
Chelsea Handler is one funny woman. She's the host of "Chelsea Lately" on E! and wrote the best seller "My Horizontal Life." We did this shoot for the cover of her new book.
Antenna
Here's a few layouts I did for the premier issue of Antenna magazine. I shot features on James Bond and Eddie Cruz of Undefeated, Andrew Lee of Invisible Man clothing and big wave surfer Mark Healey.
Me vs. The Hundreds
I've got my own Hundreds T-shirt now. My pal Bobby Hundreds asked me for an old skate photo to put on a shirt, so I gave him this shot of our late friend Doug Cloud. He was my favorite skater to shoot in high school, you'll be missed Doug! R.I.P.
Spear Collective
I recently became an inaugural member of the Spear Collective. It's a hand-picked group of cutting edge artists, creating opportunities for collaboration, artist representation and also acts as a think tank for artists and commercial clients. It was founded by the blog JoshSpear.com, who's one of the leading trend forecasters that brand managers and ad agencies look to for new lifestyle trends.
As the only photographer in the Collective, it's an honor to be apart of something with so many great artists.
